IDIOM DANCE: TEXAS SHUFFLE with KENNETH SHIPP
21 classes | 90 mins
Join Kenneth and Adamo and dive into the Texas Shuffle. This is a slotted dance, close to Carolina Shag, with a lot of stretch and pull technique and shuffle in the feet. It is danced primarily to West Coast Blues music, a style of blues that was created in the 1940s when Texas musicians moved out to California. They created a new blues sound with lots of horns, very melodic and soulful tunes and a guitar style called “surf”. Key artists were T-Bone Walker, Lowell Fulson and Fenton Robinson.
COURSE PRE-REQUISITES
