Join Damon and Kelsy as they guide you through the Slow Drag, the earliest known partnered blues dance.

The slow drag comes from the early 20th century. It started making its way through black communities around 1910, particularly in the South of the USA, and proceeded to gain popularity throughout black communities all across the United States by the late teens to the early twenties. This dance is a close embrace dance; it is really about spending time with your partner and enjoying holding on to each other and moving together to the music.
