ABOUT MIKE
Mike hails from the USA. He has a special ability to combine his knowledge of music, functional anatomy, physics, and a plethora of dance forms to create classes that are uniquely insightful, inspiring, and challenging. Mike strives to put himself in his students’ shoes so that he can teach as intuitively and thoroughly as possible. He loves seeing students’ eyes light up when they understand a concept or feel a movement work naturally in their body for the first time.
Mike has taught in 21 countries and counting.
He currently teaches Lindy Hop, solo Jazz, air steps, many different Blues styles, Balboa, and more.
Mike lives and breathes dance. He is constantly honing his skills and developing new ideas. If you run into him at a grocery store, an airport, a museum, or a mountain top, you’ll probably catch him dancing!

In this course, Mike and Vicci will introduce you to the key elements that make Struttin’ Struttin’, give you some fun footwork variations, work on different closed holds, and encourage you to develop your own way of dancing this dance.
COURSE AIMS
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Understand a little about the history of Struttin’ and where it developed
- Dance the struttin’ basic step solo and in closed hold
- Add independent footwork variations to my dancing, including: toe taps, shuffle steps and triple steps
- Add a turn to your struttin’
- Identify your core muscles and understand the importance of activating them when dancing in a lean-to position
- Try dancing in a lean-to position with your partner
